I loved my job at Soledad Prison in the 1980s!CaliGirl9https://www.blogger.com/profile/06639398512708841968noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6757696342634699253.post-77510436120682567252009-03-21T13:20:00.000-07:002009-03-21T13:20:00.000-07:00How can someone that has been ruled "Mentally Reta...How can someone that has been ruled "Mentally Retarded" be a "Pro-Per" for another case? I work in the jail and have had several encounters with this man. Although I do not agree that he should escape the death penalty, I am happy that he will be behind bars for the remainder of his life. God bless the Jeffrey and the Fontana family. You are in my thought and prayers.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6757696342634699253.post-14828824093173252282009-02-23T15:34:00.000-08:002009-02-23T15:34:00.000-08:00Grrr...this really gets me. There are so many who ...Grrr...this really gets me. There are so many who know how to "work the system" in their favor and get away with it.

"Justice delayed is justice denied", according to Wikipedia is a legal cliche meaning that if legal redress is available for a party that has suffered some injury, but is not forthcoming in a timely fashion, it is effectively the same as having no redress at all. This principle is the basis for the right to a speedy trial and similar rights which are meant to expedite the legal system, because it is unfair for the injured party to have to sustain the injury with little hope for resolution.

That is unless the injured party is a victim of a crime....then you just wait!

I am convinced however, that in most cases justice does prevail. I blogged about this exact issue in Jan. a few cases that come to mind where justice finally prevailed were the Mark Jensen case (10 years) and O.J. Simpson (13 years) even though it took another crime to get him. Karma?

I hope that justice isn't denied for the Fontanas as well!! It sounds as though Jeffery was a fine young man.

Thanks for bringing this case to our attention Caligirl!katfishhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17677596326492200191noreply@blogger.com
