You did a great job.

So happy for you that your cancer was found early enough to treat. Chemo wasn't that bad for me, probably because I only had four rounds of the Cisplatin that damaged my kidneys and was switched to the milder Carboplatin. Because of the type of cancer I had, and no originating tumor was ever found, surgery is not an option for me until they can rid the cancer from the lymph nodes. If I can get to that point, then they can operate. An operation would give me a 50% chance of survival past 5 years. So for me, it's staying in the moment of how I'm doing each day and being grateful having another day where I am still standing on two feet and able to take care of myself.

Thank you Ronni, Camarillo Lady and Cheap Guy. I'm grateful for every day I have pain free and living in the moment. I hope ...I checked and found you had written again. I hope things get better.

I had cancer 10 years ago. It was a malignant tumor in the parotid gland, which was the upper right cheek. I was sent to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. The oncologist said it was an "aggressive cancer." I felt like I'd been given a death sentence. But she said, "We hope to cure you." When I asked the surgeon if "there was any hope," he said, "Sure."

The surgeon said I would take chemotherapy in order to reduce the tumor. Then he would operate. The key was the tumor was "encapsulated." Which means it is in one place.

I took nine chemo sessions. It knocks you down, makes you weak, but it did reduce the tumor, which was large.

In October 2013 I had a five and a half hour operation. The surgeon kept scraping away, sending it for inspection. He kept going to make sure he got it all out.

The operation made me weak for over a month. It leaked where it was cut, quite uncomfortable, but it eventually stopped leaking. One day I woke up and my energy was back.

I was very lucky, everything went right. I had the best care I could get. After 10 years the cancer hasn't come back. Last week I had a nosebleed of all things, had to go to an emergency room. Seems all right now.

I can't thank you enough for having me write for your site, didn't know I could do it. And for the honor of corresponding with you.
